Erdogan urges Russia, Ukraine to ‘end this tragedy’ – Times of India

Istanbul: President of Turkey Risp Tayip Erdogan He urged the Russian and Ukrainian delegations to “end this tragedy” as they hosted talks in istanbul on Tuesday.
The face-to-face talks at the Dolmabas palace in Istanbul are aimed at trying to end a war that has killed an estimated 20,000 people and forced more than 10 million people to move out of their homes.
This is the first time that delegations from the two countries, who arrived in Turkey on Monday, met through videoconferencing after several rounds of talks.
“Both sides have valid concerns, it is possible to reach a solution acceptable to the international community,” Erdogan said.
“It is up to both sides to end this tragedy,” he insisted, adding that “an extension of the conflict is in no one’s interest”.
Turkey hosted the first meeting between Ukrainian and Russian foreign ministers since the invasion of Ukraine in the southern Turkish city of Antalya on March 10.
