India is proud to appoint Lena Nair as the new global CEO of French luxury label Chanel, who will take over the reins of Chanel from January, despite not coming from a fashion background.

The 52-year-old was working with Unilever as the global CHRO and her career there spanned 30 years. She is an Indian-origin British citizen and now joins a growing list of leading Indian-origin corporate executives at the world’s leading companies.

She hails from Kolhapur, Maharashtra and did her schooling from Holy Cross Convent High School. Leena graduated from XLRI and was a gold medalist.

Prior to Lena, American businesswoman Maureen Chikett was the brand’s CEO for nine years, until she was terminated in 2016. French billionaire Alain Wertheimer, a 73-year-old who owns Chanel with his brother Gerard Wertheimer, took over as CEO. temporary basis.
