Eviction notice to Congress on bungalow occupied by Sonia Gandhi’s secretary

The Center has given notice to the Congress party to vacate the residence in Delhi’s Chanakyapuri in Lutyens’ Bungalow area, which was occupied by Sonia Gandhi’s aide Vincent George.

C-II/109 was a powerful address in central Delhi because it was in possession of Sonia GandhiSecretary of State Vincent George. However, George no longer lives in that flat and the bungalow is still in the possession of the Congress party.

The Directorate of Estates (DOE), under the Ministry of Housing and Urban Affairs, said the bungalow in the posh area is under “unauthorized occupation” and hence should be vacated.

The notice states that the allotment of the house was canceled by the directorate in June 2013. The Congress party has been given three working days to respond to the notice. It has also asked to appear in person to explain why the eviction order should not be issued.

It may also be noted that the total amount outstanding for the property which is 3.08 crores. In February, a notice was sent by the central government to the Congress party to pay pending rent and dues of three properties, including the Congress office, Sonia Gandhi’s official residence, and the residence which is occupied by her secretary, read the notice.
