Mangaluru: Many. with errors In graduation exam result Recently announced, Mangalore University (MU) will conduct a failure mode analysis To find out the root cause, said PS Yadapaditya, vice-chancellor of the university.
The in-house software MULinx adopted for the first time exams has reported several serious errors. The errors have affected the future prospects of the students and affected the reputation of the university. It also forced MU to postpone postgraduate (PG) admissions for the third time.
Yadapaditya agreed that a series of problems resulted from problems in the MULinx software, adding that no one person could be blamed for the glitch. “The entire exam process is teamwork, so we have formed a committee to look into what went wrong with the current exam software. The same findings will be presided over during the Syndicate meeting to decide whether to continue with the existing software. MU is the first university among 23 other state universities, which has adopted in-house software, but we have failed to give error free results. We can outsource the job to private firms from the next exam,” he said.
PG admissions increased
Mangalore University had decided to start the first year PG classes from mid-December. However, in the latest development, errors in the sixth semester results have forced MU to again extend the date to December 24. Earlier date was 9th December.
PS Yadapadithya said that they extended the dates so that any student aspiring for higher studies is not deprived of this opportunity due to the mistakes made by the university. “We are a student-centric university, therefore, we convened a meeting of all PG chairpersons to take a decision on extending the dates. They have considered it and said that this is the last time they can extend the dates. As a result of this inconvenience, we have decided to waive the entrance exam fee for PG courses. PG classes were to start from November 18.
