Excise Policy Matters: Former Delhi Deputy Chief Minister Manish Sisodia on Thursday urged the Delhi High Court to grant him bail on parity basis, claiming that no money trail linking him to the proceeds of the alleged crime has been found so far. Manish Sisodia was earlier arrested by the CBI in the excise policy scam case.

The senior AAP leader’s counsel said Sisodia was not in a position to influence witnesses or tamper with evidence in the case. Justice Dinesh Kumar Sharma, after hearing the arguments of Sisodia’s lawyers, fixed April 26 for the arguments of the CBI’s counsel.

Why is Manish Sisodia behind bars?

The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) arrested Manish Sisodia on February 26 on charges of alleged corruption in the formulation and implementation of the now-cancelled Delhi Excise Policy 2021-22. The CBI conducted several rounds of inquiries on this matter. Recently, Delhi CM Arvind Kejriwal was also summoned by the CBI in the same case and was questioned for nearly nine hours.
