The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) will fight the anti-incumbency wave and end it with traditional rival Congress and a new player. Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) upcoming Gujarat Assembly elections which are due next month.

The incumbent BJP is eyeing a seventh consecutive victory in Gujarat as the number of rivals has increased with the entry of Arvind Kejriwal’s AAP. The ruling BJP in Gujarat has won the assembly elections six times in a row since 1995.

Gujarat Assembly Elections: A Look at Key Figures

Voting for the Gujarat Assembly elections will be held in two phases, the first phase on December 1 and the second phase on December 5, the Election Commission of India (ECI) informed on Thursday. Here is the two-phase polling schedule:

– Date of scrutiny of nominations: 15 November

Last date for withdrawal of candidature: 17 November

Voting date: 1st December

Last date for filing nominations: November 17

– Date of scrutiny of nominations: November 18

Last date for withdrawal of candidature: 21 November

– Voting date: December 5

– Number of constituencies going to the polls: 93

Total Constituencies: 182

In the elections held in 2017 GujaratThe BJP had won 99 seats, while the Congress had won 77, 49.05% and 42.97% of the votes, respectively.

The Election Commission had also said that it was setting up over 1200 polling stations, especially for women. To encourage young voters, 33 stations will have the youngest employees of the Election Commission while 182 stations will have persons with disabilities.
