Union Cabinet Meeting: The Cabinet, chaired by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, approved the setting up of three national level cooperative societies.

The Union Cabinet on Wednesday approved the setting up of three national level multi-state cooperative societies under the Multi State Cooperative Societies (MSCS) Act, 2002.

The Cabinet, chaired by the Prime Minister Narendra Modi, approved the setting up and promotion of a national level Multi-State Cooperative Export Society under the Multi State Cooperative Societies (MSCS) Act, 2002 with the support of the concerned Ministries particularly the Ministry of External Affairs and the Department of Commerce. approved. Ministry of Commerce and Industry through its export related policies, schemes and agencies by following a ‘whole of government approach’ for export of all goods and services produced by cooperatives and related entities.

The proposed committee will give thrust to exports from the cooperative sector by acting as an umbrella organization to export and promote exports. This will help in unlocking the export potential of Indian cooperatives in global markets.

The proposed society will also help the cooperatives to avail benefits of various export related schemes and policies of various ministries of the government. India in a focused manner.

It will also help in achieving the goal of “cooperative-to-prosperity” through the inclusive development model of cooperatives, where members can get better prices through export of their goods and services and also through dividends distributed out of surplus. The Cabinet also approved setting up of a national level multi-state seed cooperative society, which will act as an apex organization for production, procurement, processing, branding, labelling, packaging, storage, marketing and distribution of quality seeds. will do; strategic research and development; and to develop a system for conservation and promotion of indigenous natural seeds; Through various cooperatives across the country with the support of relevant ministries.

It has also approved setting up and promotion of a national level cooperative society for organic products.

The cooperative society will conduct various activities related to the organic sector by providing certified and authentic organic products.

This will help in unlocking the demand and consumption potential of organic products in domestic as well as global markets.

The society will help cooperatives and ultimately their farmer members to get the benefit of higher price of organic products through large scale aggregation, branding and marketing by facilitating testing and certification at affordable cost.
