Extremely heavy rainfall likely to continue over South Peninsular India: IMD

According to the India Meteorological Department (IMD), very heavy to very heavy rains are very likely to continue over South Peninsular India especially Kerala, Coastal Karnataka and Tamil Nadu for the next two to three days.

According to the India Meteorological Department (IMD), very heavy to very heavy rains are very likely to continue over South Peninsular India especially Kerala, Coastal Karnataka and Tamil Nadu for the next two to three days.

The deficient rain activity over central parts of the country is likely to continue till August 4 and gradually increase thereafter.

The western end of the Monsoon Trough was north of its normal position at mean sea level and its eastern end was close to its normal position.

From August 5 onwards, the Monsoon trough is likely to remain near normal to or south of normal conditions.

“Heavy rains are very likely over Kerala and Mahe and adjoining Tamil Nadu during 2nd-4th, 3rd-5th over South Interior Karnataka and Coastal Karnataka during 2-5th August, 2022,” the IMD said in its weather bulletin.

Similar weather will prevail over Telangana, Karnataka, Tamil Nadu, Puducherry, Karaikal and Kerala and Mahe till Saturday. Very heavy rainfall is likely over South Interior Karnataka on 6th August.
