Eyes on Goa elections, Arvind Kejriwal announces unemployment allowance, jobs quota for locals

Aam Aadmi Party’s national convener and Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal has announced an unemployment allowance of Rs 3,000 and 80 per cent quota in private sector jobs for locals in Goa. The AAP leader is in Goa today to extend support to his party ahead of the assembly elections due early next year.

Kejriwal said the youth told him that if anyone wants a government job in Goa, he has to know any minister, MLA. “It is not possible to get a government job in Goa without a bribe/recommendation. We will end it. Government jobs here will be the right of the youth of Goa,” he said.

“We will arrange to give a job to one employed youth in each household in Goa. They will get unemployment allowance of Rs 3,000 per month till they get the job. 80% of the jobs will be reserved for the youth of Goa – we will bring a law 80 for the youth of Goa too. % to reserve private jobs,” he told reporters in Panaji.

Kejriwal said that families dependent on tourism, who have become unemployed due to Kovid, will be given Rs 5,000 every month till the employment is restored.

“Families dependent on mining are suffering due to closure of mines, they will also be given Rs 5,000 every month till mining starts,” Kejriwal said.

Kejriwal also promised that the AAP government will set up a skill university in Goa where children will be able to learn their favorite skills after class 12th so that they can become employable.

Earlier on Monday, Kejriwal visited Shri Rudreshwar temple in Harvalem village, which incidentally is part of Chief Minister Pramod Sawant’s Sankhalim assembly constituency.
