Verstappen comfortably wins his home race

Max Verstappen at Red Bull scored a dominating victory over the first Dutch GP in 36 years. Lewis Hamilton at Mercedes had no answer for Verstappen’s pace and came P2 with him battling tire wear towards the end of the race. With this win, Verstappen regained the lead at the World Championships. Hamilton, however, managed to score points for the fastest lap of the race. His teammate Valtteri Bottas came on P3. Pierre Gasly was far from the top three in the stellar P4 for AlphaTauri. Ferrari’s Charles Leclerc came on P5 in the final stages of the race despite a stop on the galley.

In the Alpine, Fernando Alonso overtook Ferrari’s Carlos Sainz Jr in the last lap of the P6 race. Sainz finished P7 after chasing his teammate for most of the race. In the second Red Bull, Sergio Pérez came in P8, a recovery drive from the back of the grid, when his team decided to replace his engine, earning a penalty. Esteban Ocon came on P8 in the second alpine after overtaking his teammate at the start of the race. Lando Norris came back in P10 ahead of his teammate Daniel Ricciardo, who fought for P11.

Nicholas Latifi was Williams ahead of George Russell. He came in P16 while Russell managed P17. Mick Schumacher was the last car to finish on Haas P18.

In Alphatauri Yuki Tsunoda retired on lap 51 while Nikita Mazepin in the second Haas retired first on lap 43.
