Fake news can become a national concern, think 10 times before forwarding information: PM

The Prime Minister while addressing said, “One should think 10 times before forwarding any information and verify it before believing it. Every platform has tools to verify any information. Browse through the sources, you will find a new version of it.” ‘Chintan Shivir’ which was attended by Home Ministers of various states.

Prime Minister Condoled the loss caused to our country due to fake news about reservation in jobs. “We have to come up with technological advancements to stop the spread of fake news,” he said.

He also pointed out the many possibilities of social media and emphasized that one should not use it only as a source of spreading and receiving information.

During his address, he also stressed on the need for a technology mission for police which would enable all the states with best technology and cooperation for crime prevention. He said that in today’s time criminals have become globalized and we need to stay ten steps ahead of them (criminals).

“That is why mutual cooperation between state agencies and between central and state agencies is becoming important,” Modi said.

He mentioned the use of drones for cyber crime and smuggling of drugs and weapons and stressed that the government should keep updating the latest technologies to tackle such high-tech crimes. “With the help of smart technology, law and order can be improved,” he said.

Prime Minister He also expressed confidence in providing best technology to law-enforcement agencies and affirmed that with the advent of 5G, the process will be much faster.
