Passengers on the London to Birmingham train experienced some anxious moments as the coach suddenly stopped before entering the platform at Birmingham New Street station.

A fire alarm sounded at Birmingham’s biggest railway station, making the alarm false on Tuesday afternoon ahead of the Commonwealth Games.

Passengers on the London to Birmingham train experienced some anxious moments as the coach suddenly stopped before entering the platform at Birmingham New Street station.

Train crews announced that the fire alarm went off at the train station, which handled 45.6 million passengers between April 2019 and March 2020 and is one of the busiest stations in the country.

It also forced the entire station to be evacuated and the train lasting more than 45 minutes was disrupted.

A sense of peace was restored when it was announced that it was a false alarm, leaving the stranded passengers with a grinning smile.

The XXII Commonwealth Games are scheduled to begin in Birmingham on Friday.
