Farmer praises 35-year-old Mahindra tractor for quality on Twitter, Anand Mahindra responds

Mahindra is a homegrown brand which is not only famous for its SUVs but also tractors. The company was changing travel plans for Indian consumers after independence with its Jeep-licensed products; Its tractor division managed to bring speed to the farmers. Mahindra tractors are known for their reliability and efficiency. Recently, Mahindra Group Chairman Anand Mahindra shared a video on Twitter, which shows a 35-year-old Mahindra tractor pulling a trolley with ease. To our surprise, the trolley was loaded with sugarcane weighing a total of 12 tonnes. Sharing the video, Anand Mahindra tweeted, ‘We are happiest when our tractors are your lifelong companions.’

The video was originally shared by Bala Devkate, a farmer, with the caption, “Thank you from the bottom of my heart to Anand Mahindra & Mahindra Group. The Mahindra 265 DI 35 HP tractor was bought in 1988. This tractor is 35 years old. The tractor is still running great. A trolley loaded with 12 tonnes of sugarcane was removed from the sugarcane field.

As we scrolled through the Twitter post, we found several interesting comments. While one pointed fingers at the overloading practice of trolleys which can be dangerous, another commented, “Of course you are. And I am also sure you have already called Gadkari in these 9 minutes.” Has he forgotten to include tractors in the Vehicle Scrapping Policy 2022.

The vehicle scrappage policy is not being welcomed with warm response by the Indians. It states that a vehicle should be thrown into the junk after it has been used for 15 years. Although there is a provision to obtain a fitness certificate and retain ownership of the vehicle, the process is tedious, and the certificate is valid only for a short period.

Focusing on the same, someone commented, “1988 which is just 35 years old sir. Aren’t we trashing vehicles too soon? The 15-year relinquishment policy is against the environment. To make one new car, the industry emits more CO2 than it emits in 20 years. Allow people to use the same car with the new engine.”
