Jammu and Kashmir National Conference President Farooq Abdullah raised his voice against the applicability of the Representation of the People Act 1950, 1951 in the UT on 22 August. “We all parties are against this new law (voting rights for non-locals in J&K), we oppose it. We are also thinking of going to court on this.” Leaders of various political parties are meeting in Srinagar for an all-party meeting regarding ‘registration of new voters in Jammu and Kashmir’.
