Father reprimanded, teenager ended his life; Follows elder sister | Hubli News – Times of India

Haveri: Brother and sister gave their lives in a painful accident on Friday in Byadgi town of Haveri district. While the younger brother, 16, took this extreme step after his father allegedly scolded him, his 18-year-old sister, furious at the loss, chased him.
Sources said that Nagraj Chalvadi, a Class X student, was reprimanded by his father Chandru Chalvadi, who had advised the former to attend his classes regularly and study hard. Sources said that this prompted Nagraj to end his life by hanging from the ceiling. His sister Bhagyalakshmi Chalvadi ended her life in the same way by hanging from the same place a few hours after the death of her brother. The Chalavadi family has a distant connection with Haveri MLA Nehru Olekar.
Byadgi circle police inspector Basavaraj said that Nagraj was agitated after being scolded by his father. “On Friday morning when he was alone at home, he ended his life. His elder sister, Bhagyalakshmi, a PU student, who reached the taluk hospital on hearing the news of Nagraj’s death, was in complete shock over his death. She went home when other family members were still in the hospital, and used the same sari to hang herself in the same room,” Basavaraj said, adding that he brought the family to the bed after completing the bodies of the two siblings. Handed over. Post-mortem.
A distraught Chandru Chalavadi is still struggling to deal with the incident, as is his wife. “I had only mentored him as a father. I had no idea he would take such a drastic step. My daughter loved him dearly, and could not even imagine living without him, and followed him in death. We have lost both our children and are in shock.”
