FDCI x Lakme Fashion Week 2022: Warina Hussain turns showstopper for ‘Pukes’

Mumbai (Maharashtra) [India], 14 October (ANI): Lakme Fashion Week is on now! While this time there are many designers who are showcasing their new collections, silhouettes and creativity. One such designer has brought a piece of sustainable fashion to the ramp.

Pratyush Kumar, who won the R|Elan™ Circular Design Challenge in partnership with United Nations in India at Lakme Fashion Week x FDCI during March 2022 edition, showcased his new collection ‘Pukes’ on the second day of Lakme Fashion Week. The event took place at the Jio World Convention Center.

Bollywood diva Warina Hussain, who turned showstopper for ‘PIEUX’, wore a jacket with elements from both ethnic and western fashion as well as a co-ord set, which was more minimal in design. Varina’s stunning ensemble consisted of an upcycled bralette top with a deep neckline, matching loose leggings and a long-sleeved jacket with a similar pattern.

Inspired by the incredible world of life under the microscope, the ‘Pukes’ showcased the Illusion theme in their collection at the event. He worked on the concept of lenticular print to create the illusion in pleats. The collection captures the details and intricacies through techniques such as pleating, weaving, eco-friendly digital printing and 3D printing under the microscope.

Pratyush Kumar, Creative Head and Founder ‘Pieux’ said, “Our collection Illusion was successfully illustrated with the help of pleats and prints for our athleisure pieces. The association with CDC has been amazing. It has inspired me to form a circular label. I was recognized. Winning the CDC also helped me purchase the future of Fabric, R|Elan. The exposure I got due to the Circular Design Challenge was great. It also gave me a platform to showcase my work that could not be a dream is not less than.

Keeping the silhouette large and comfortable were chunky sweaters with interesting weaves and patterns. Duel long sleeves appeared under wide kimono, while buttonless jackets with narrow lapels and large patch pockets featured a mix of wild prints and colors. Details came in the form of directions pointing to the angular zippered neckline for the blouse, knitted cuffs for the sleeves, loads of color/pattern blocking, as well as interesting construction and drafting techniques.

Fashion that is loyal and concerned about the environment has a lasting impact on the trend charts and the “Illusion” collection by Pikes was the ideal offering for shoppers whose ideas are on the right sustainable path. (ANI)
