Chandigarh: Fifty percent of fee 35,000 students studying in government schools in Chandigarh will be given relaxation. District Education Officer Prabhjot Kaur Instructions have been issued to all school principals in this regard.
According to the order, all the schools taking annual and monthly fees from April 2021 to July 2021 will adjust the amount by March 2022.
50% fee relief is being given for the second time in a row due to the COVID pandemic. Even though this step is a matter of relief for the students, but the Chandigarh Administration will suffer a loss of more than 3.5 crores.
Government schools in Chandigarh are divided into model and non-model categories. Model schools have English as the medium of instruction, non-model schools have Hindi, Punjabi and English.
Class IX and X. fee of
164 to be paid as annual fee for class IX and X in model schools. In model school, if the annual income of girl students is scheduled caste, Other backward classes Category Boys, Children of Widow Women and Physically Handicapped Students are less than Rs 1.5 Lakhs, then their fees are waived off. To avail this, students have to submit relevant documents to the school in class IX.
In non-model schools, different fees are charged for different categories – boys, girls and scheduled caste students.
