Fee structure for education at AIIMS may be modeled on that of IITs, IIMs – Times of India

New Delhi: Fee Structure for Medical Education AIIMS According to a recommendation made at the ‘Chintan Shivir’ of AIIMS held in August, the model could be revised across India and modeled on the lines of IITs and IIMs to enhance the revenue generating capacity of the premier institute.

An official source told PTI that the Union Health Ministry is in the process of finalizing a committee that will study the feasibility of these recommendations and see what level of enhancement can be done.
“One of the recommendations suggested is to amend the fee structure of courses like MBBSAdoption of the post-graduation and nursing education and the structure followed in IITs and IIMs, so as to enhance the revenue generating potential of the premier institution.”
At present, the fee for MBBS course in AIIMS is around Rs 6,500.
