Actor Farhan Akhtar on Sunday condoled the death of an Indian student who lost his life in Kharkiv this morning due to shelling in the area.

Naveen Shekharappa hailed from Haveri in Karnataka and was a fourth year MBBS student in Ukraine.

Farhan condoled his death on his Twitter handle and wrote, “An Indian student is now a casualty in the attack in Ukraine.. Feeling very bad for the family.. Deepest condolences..Hope we share our hearts and minds.” May all citizens be safe and home soon.”

The central government has launched ‘Operation Ganga’ to bring back stranded students and Indian citizens from conflict-torn Ukraine.

The government has also deployed ‘special envoys’ to four neighboring countries bordering Ukraine to coordinate and monitor the evacuation process of Indian nationals.
