Writer and activist CS Chandrika has said that the sexual harassment case involving activist Civic Chandran has created a rift in the feminist movement in Kerala, as a large section of feminist activists in the state stood in support of the activist and against the two women. who had leveled allegations of sexual harassment against her.

Initiating a protest meeting in support of the survivors of various cases in which high-profile persons were accused of sexual harassment, he said that a section of the cultural sector not only in Kozhikode, but across the state is also aware of the fact. Can’t digest. That a Dalit woman had alleged and hence, launched a campaign that she was hired for the job by the ruling CPI(M).

Ms Chandrika denounced casteism and male dominance, which still governs the state’s cultural sphere. “Most people were skeptical of her allegation, as they believe that a Dalit woman cannot have the courage to make such allegations without strong support. But she is not just any Dalit woman. She is a writer and scholar and she firmly believes that she is campaigning to defame him online.” He added that another woman making allegations against Civic Chandran has cemented her position.

“There are some other women who have faced similar plight but have not come out due to fear that they will face online slander. This is actually destroying the original purpose of the #MeToo campaign,” said Ms Chandrika.

The meeting was organized by the collective ‘Athijeevithamarkakoppam Kozhikode’.

Women’s organizations across the state had held several meetings a month ago in support of the victim in the actor rape case. However, questions were raised by various circles as to why feminists did not stand up for women who were not so famous, yet faced sexual harassment from prominent figures.

Investigator President K. Athijeevithamarkoppam was formed to extend support to all the survivors, Ajitha said.

Several women activists and sympathizers of the cause attended the protest meeting.
