Lohri is a wonderful festival celebrated enthusiastically across the country to mark the winter solstice and a good harvest. Though it is one of the most important holidays in Punjab, it is celebrated with equal zeal and enthusiasm all over the country. Sesame seeds and jaggery, two traditional snacks, are offered on the bonfire and consumed as prasad.

Makar Sankranti – marks the end of winter

Makar Sankranti, also known as Uttarayan, is one of the major holidays celebrated in India. An important harvest holiday, Makar Sankranti has its roots in rural areas. Joydev Kenduli Mela – A three day festival in Birbhum

Joydev Kenduli Fair, also known as Kenduli Fair, is held in Birbhum, West Bengal. This festival is especially important as it is the best opportunity to see the boules, nomadic bands of mystic minstrels who roam the region playing music on ektara and singing devotional songs.
