FIH Pro League Women’s Hockey: India lose 2-3 against Argentina in second match

The Indian women’s hockey team put up a stellar performance but lost 2-3 against world number two Argentina in their second match of the FIH Hockey Pro League 2021-22 tie in Rotterdam, Netherlands on Sunday. Salima Tete (23) and Deep Grace Ekka (48) found the back of the net for India, while Delfina Thome (38), Eugenia Trinchinetti (41) and Augustina Gorzelene (43′) were the scorers for Argentina. .

Argentina started off aggressively and entered a few circles in the opening minutes of the match, but the Indian defense unit stood tall and ensured that the 0-0 deadlock was not broken. Argentina got a penalty corner in the sixth minute, but they could not take advantage of the opportunity. The Indian team retaliated and won a penalty corner in the 11th minute. However, Belen Susie made a brilliant save to keep the Indians at bay.

Argentina earned a penalty corner in the first minute of the second quarter, but Indian captain Savita deflected Agustina Gorzelny’s shot over the crossbar. Argentina continued to put pressure on their opponents, but the Indian defense unit stood up and kept the ball away from their target. Salima led India’s counterattack in the 23rd minute with a brilliant run to eventually give her team a 1-0 lead from the back of the net.
