Months into the lockdown, as digital platforms remain uncertain over the future of cinema, Venkat Prabhu reached out to friends Pa Ranjith, M Rajesh and Chimbudevan for an anthology, to get the creative juices flowing. Initially the idea was to make a thriller.
Venkat Prabhu oversaw the synopsis that each filmmaker sent him. After paying attention to their scripts, they realized there was a common thread and decided to call it the victim, Make Content for OTT Platforms not entirely new to him, he directed the anthology kutti story (2021). “trouble with [ Kutty Story] Was it released in cinemas? In the victimPrabhu directs Short Confession Starring Amala Paul and Prasanna. The story takes place over a call in one night; Prabhu says it was a departure for him as a director. “my colleague [Manivannan, who wrote Manmatha Leelai] wrote Confession very. We shot this film on the 13th floor of an unfinished building during the lockdown. We all saw it as a learning opportunity and personally, I have tried to push my limits with it,” he adds. On the other hand, Chimbudevan says that unlike Rajesh and Venkat Prabhu, who stepped out of their comfort zone, he played to his strength with his short. Ranjith works again with his favorite Kalairasan. Regarding the comfort they share, Ranjeet says, “In all my films, I try to understand the strength of my actors. Once I understand that, I try to bring out the potential in them. That’s how I think Kalairasan is a brilliant actor. He is attentive and does what I want. I deal with real human emotions in my films. By far, he is the best when it comes to portraying him. ,
