Fire breaks out in maternity ward of Chatra Sadar Hospital Ranchi News – Times of India

Chatra: A Fire broke in maternity ward of umbrella Sadar Hospital Friday morning. Medicines, syringes, fans and documents were burnt in the fire. The hospital claimed that no patient or hospital staff was hurt in the incident.
Smoke was seen in the maternity ward around 9 am. Initially, it was thought that someone was cooking, but the matter became clear in no time and the hospital staff started running away. Many patients admitted in the ward have also been evacuated safely.
The hospital management called fire tenders and the fire was brought under control. However, it was later found that there were no fire extinguishers in the ward.
“No major injuries were reported and the fire was quickly doused. The fire may have started due to short circuit. We are assessing the damage,” said civil surgeon Dr Shyam Nandan Singh.
