First Batch Classes Started in Specialized Excellence Schools; Sisodia interacts with students – Times of India

NEW DELHI: As the School of Specialized Excellence (SoSE) began classes for its first batch on Monday, Deputy Chief Minister Manish Sisodia interacted with students and parents. Sisodia announced that September 27 will be marked as SoSE Foundation Day every year.

He was present at SoSE, Kalkaji to interact live with the students and parents of all 20 SoSEs which are starting this year.

Of the 14,245 students who appeared for SOSE’s aptitude test, around 2,200 students have been admitted so far. This year, SoSEs have entered the fields of science, technology, engineering and mathematics (STEM), humanities, performing and visual arts and 21st century high skills.

While students and parents physically assembled at SOSE Kalkaji, people from other 19 SOSEs attended virtually.

“We are starting a new chapter in education today. Almost 70 years ago, the Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) started its first campus in Kharagpur with 224 students. It was the need of the hour as India needed special education. There was a need for science and technology at the higher education level.

“In today’s world, we see the need for special education in the school system and hence, we have established SoSEs. In the coming years, SoSE will set a new bar of excellence not only in our country but all over the world,” Sisodia said.

Students from various SOSEs shared their reasons for taking admission in these schools.

When asked by a student about the future course after clearing from SoSE, Sisodia said, “As you have cleared a highly competitive qualifying examination to get admission in SoSE, it is assured that your You will have a good higher education and career. Today, I want to assure SoSE students and their parents that whatever career students choose, they will have a lot of confidence in themselves. And, this is what SoSE will prepare them for.”

Each of the 20 SoSEs welcomed the admitted students and parents and conducted interactions with experts and alumni of the school.

These schools include 30 schools, which will be covered by the newly formed Delhi Board of School Education (DSBE) for its first batch.

The school seeks to cater to students in grades 9 to 12 who have special abilities and expertise in specific fields of study, including science, technology, engineering and mathematics (STEM), humanities, performing and visual arts, and the high-end of the 21st century. is interested. skill.
