Fisherman from Maharashtra caught fish with ‘Heart of Gold’; earns crores overnight

Miracles do happen sometimes – and a recent example is the incident that happened near Mumbai in Maharashtra’s Palghar district. A fisherman named Chandrakant Tare, who took his boat out to sea in late August, never thought he would become a millionaire upon his return. Yes, you read that right! Chandrakant, a resident of Murbe village in Palghar, went fishing on August 28, 2021, after the monsoon restrictions (on fishing) were lifted. It was a normal day for him, until he noticed that his fishing net suddenly became heavier than usual.

He immediately pulled the net out of the water to find about 150 ghoul fish trapped in the net. The incident took Chandrakant and other crew members by surprise. Later, upon reaching the shore, these fish were auctioned and fetched around Rs 1.33 crore, reports NDTV. It is further written in the report that the news of this deal has been confirmed by Chandrakant Tare’s son Somnath. However, he also mentioned that the deal is not yet closed.

Now you must be thinking that what is so special about ghoul fish? So, let’s start with what a ghoul fish is. Considered one of the most expensive marine fish, it is mainly found in the Indo-Pacific region. It has many medicinal values and parts of the ghoul fish are often used to make medicines and other valuable products. Ghoul fish also makes a delicious dish and is highly valued in different countries. According to Shri Somnath, there is a pouch in the stomach of the ghoul fish, which is in great demand in foreign countries. This is the reason why the fish is also known as the “fish with a heart of gold”.
