For ‘alone’ Satyendar Jain, Tihar Jail called physiologist and got necessary treatment

by india today news deskA day after jailed former Delhi minister Satyendar Jain complained that he was feeling lonely and depressed in his cell, Tihar Jail authorities on Monday said they would take the help of a physiologist and provide him necessary treatment.

Jail officials said the AAP leader consulted a physiologist inside the prison clinic, who suggested that he be around people and have social interactions after he mentioned whether he was feeling depressed and lonely.

A senior jail official said, “If he or any inmate is suffering from depression, they should be given proper attention. So if Jain is suffering from depression then we will take help of another physiologist to understand and analyze his current state of mind and if he is found to be suffering from depression then we will arrange necessary treatment as per rules. Suggestion of concerned physiologist.

Tihar Jail SP gets show cause notice for transfer of 2 prisoners to Jain’s cell

Officials said on Monday that the Tihar Jail administration has issued a show-cause notice to the Superintendent of Jail No. 7 for shifting the two prisoners to the cell where Jain is lodged.

They said Jain had submitted an application to the jail authorities requesting that two prisoners be kept with him as he was feeling depressed and lonely.

A senior officer said the superintendent transferred the prisoners without informing or discussing with the administration.

Jain was arrested by the Enforcement Directorate (ED) on May 31, 2022, in a money laundering case.
