Former Mahindra Electric CEO Mahesh Babu joins Switch Mobility in two leadership roles

Switch Mobility, the electric mobility arm of Hinduja Group, the parent company of Ashok Leyland, has announced the appointment of Mahesh Babu, the former MD and CEO of Mahindra Electric, to two key leadership roles. Babu, who last month announced his stepping down as head of Mahindra Electric, will now hold two leadership positions at Switch Mobility – Chief Operating Officer (COO) of Switch Mobility Ltd and Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Switch Mobility ( CEO), India. The appointment is being made with immediate effect. Earlier this year, former Aston Martin boss, Andy Palmer, joined the company as executive vice president and CEO of Switch Mobility Ltd.

Talking about the appointment of Mahesh Babu, Palmer said, “I am delighted to announce this appointment as Mahesh has over 25 years of experience in Switch and as an EV Pioneer as CEO & Track His expertise is renowned as of record. He joins a strong leadership team and I to achieve our ambition of providing net-zero carbon van and bus solutions globally and realizing our bold sustainability objectives at Switch. Earlier this year, former Aston Martin boss, Andy Palmer, joined the company as executive vice president and CEO of Switch Mobility Ltd.

Prior to joining Switch Mobility, Mahesh Babu Babu was at Mahindra Electric, where he was the Managing Director and CEO. Under his leadership, Mahindra Electric launched six new electric vehicles, including 3-wheeler and 4-wheeler commercial vehicles as well as the company’s software platform, NEMO. It was during his tenure as Vice President of Product Development that Mahindra launched its first monocoque SUV, the XUV500. Babu has also been instrumental in shaping the future mobility policy in India by providing electric TCO solutions through his initiatives in passenger vehicles, commercial fleet and last-mile mobility. Before joining Mahindra, he also worked at Ashok Leyland.
