DDCA director Dinesh Sharma told PTI on Wednesday, “Many decisions were taken in the general body meeting that day and Justice (retd) Indu Malhotra was appointed for a year. She will take over soon.” ”
It is learned that DDCA President Jaitley had personally approached Malhotra to take up the post of Lokpal, as it was vacated by Justice Badr Durrez Ahmed.
In 2007, Malhotra was named a senior advocate by the Supreme Court and became only the second woman to be nominated by the apex court after a gap of three decades.
He has been appointed amicus curiae in certain cases by various benches of the Supreme Court.
After serving as a legal counsel in the Supreme Court for 30 years, he was unanimously recommended for appointment as a Supreme Court judge.
Her dissenting note as the only woman judge on the panel for the Sabarimala temple verdict garnered a lot of attention across the country.
