Cyrus Mistry dies in car accident Industrialist and former Tata Sons chairman Cyrus Mistry died in a car accident near Mumbai on Sunday. He was 54 years old.
According to reports, Palghar Superintendent of Police has confirmed the news that Cyrus Mistry has died in the accident.
Reports said that Mistry’s car collided with a divider on the road, when the industrialist succumbed to his injuries.
The accident happened at Palghar near Mumbai when he was returning from Ahmedabad in Gujarat.
Mistry was going from Ahmedabad to Mumbai when his car collided with the divider. Four people were in the car, out of which two died. The other two have been admitted to a local hospital in Casa.
Mistry was traveling in a Mercedes car.
The accident happened around 3.15 pm, when Mistry was on his way from Ahmedabad to Mumbai. The accident happened on the bridge over the Surya river. The police officer said it sounds like an accident.
Two other people traveling with him, including the driver of the car, were injured. All the injured have been admitted to a hospital in Gujarat.
Sharing his condolences, Prime Minister Narendra Modi said, “The untimely demise of Cyrus Mistry is shocking. He was a promising business leader who believed in India’s economic prowess. His passing away was a big blow to the world of commerce and industry. Loss. Condolences to his family and friends. May his soul rest in peace.”
Maharashtra Chief Minister Eknath Shinde condoled, “Deeply shocked to hear about the passing away of Cyrus Mistry. Cyrus was seen not only as a successful businessman but also as a young and future looking personality of the industry. Also seen in. It’s a big loss. Not only to the Mistry family but also to the industry. Heartfelt tributes to them.”

Shiv Sena (Uddhav Thackeray-faction) leader Priyanka Chaturvedi also shared her condolences on the incident, saying, “Shocked and saddened to hear about the death of Cyrus Mistry in a road accident. Prayers for him, his family and friends to deal with. Heartfelt condolences to you. With this sad loss. Gone too soon, rest in peace.”
