Jammu: At least four people were killed and over 25 were injured when a bus carrying Vaishno Devi pilgrims caught fire on Friday afternoon in Katra area of ​​Reasi district in Jammu.
Union Minister Dr Jitendra Singh and Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha expressed grief over the incident and directed the district administration to ensure best possible treatment to the injured.
Officials said the bus carrying pilgrims from Katra to Jammu caught fire near Nomen at around 4 pm and the fire engulfed the entire vehicle leaving no chance for the occupants to get out of the bus. gave.
“Four people were burnt alive, while over 25 people suffered burns,” he said. “After being evacuated, the injured were shifted to a nearby medical facility, from where 23 were referred to the Government Medical College, Jammu for specialized treatment,” he said.
He said the identity of the four dead, including a child, is yet to be ascertained.
