Fourth Wall Theatre, a theater group in Bengaluru formed in February 2022, will stage its first play, Odd Directed by Mahesh SP , The play is written by Chauthi Deewar founder Vilok V Kaushik along with Mahesh SP, Arvind S Kumar and Gayatri Narayan. It has music by Abhimanyu Bhupathi.
The play, in English and Kannada, is about a writer who finds her husband dead in their home under mysterious circumstances. Mahesh says, “When the mystery is being revealed, everyone associated with the writer is being questioned, raising questions about the society.”
Odd Mahesh says, also talks about the impact of the murder on the people directly or indirectly involved. “When Willok approached me to direct this play, I thought it was like a regular crime story. We worked on it to bring in theatrical elements and make it issue-based.
Mahesh works as a dialogue/screenplay writer and assistant director in the Kannada film industry and has acted in Kannada film. last bus ,Cinema is my bread and butter,” says Mahesh, who has also worked with amateur theater groups including Prayaganga, Drishya and Ranga Shankara.
Mahesh says he is thrilled that theater is flourishing. “Theater is an intimate experience between actors and audience, with each feeding off the energy of the other.”
