France will send light tanks, armored cars to Ukraine to fight Russia

Ukraine and France agree on the need to increase collective pressure on Russia

Paris:

France announced on Monday dozens more light tanks and armored vehicles for Ukraine’s army, as well as training for troops using them.

In their joint statement, French President Emmanuel Macron and Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky also called for new sanctions against Russia over its invasion of Ukraine.

“In the coming weeks, France will train and equip several battalions with tens of thousands of armored vehicles and light tanks, including the AMX-10RC,” the statement said.

Paris would also focus its efforts “in supporting Ukraine’s air defense capabilities to defend its population against Russian attacks”.

“Ukraine and France agree on the need to increase collective pressure on Russia in order to undermine Russia’s ability to continue its illegal war of aggression.”

His announcement came after Zelensky flew to France late Sunday and attended a dinner with Macron at the Elysee Palace.

“Paris. With each visit, Ukraine’s defense and offensive capabilities are expanding,” Zelensky tweeted as he flew to the Villacouble airbase.

“Ties with Europe are getting stronger, and the pressure on Russia is increasing.”
