The India Meteorological Department has warned about the possibility of an onset over northwest India from May 7 and central India from May 8.

“A low pressure area formed over South Andaman Sea on May 06, 2022 and further intensified into a depression during subsequent 48 hours with further northwestward,” the IMD said in a statement today.

IMD Heatwave conditions are expected over Rajasthan during May 7-9. While heatwave conditions have been observed over South Haryana-Delhi, South-West Uttar Pradesh, Madhya Pradesh and Vidarbha on 08 and 09 May 2022.

“No significant change in maximum temperature is likely over the rest of the country,” the IMD said.

As for the rain forecast, the IMD said that “Light/moderate to very widespread rainfall is very likely to occur over Arunachal Pradesh, Assam and Meghalaya, and Nagaland, Manipur, Mizoram and Tripura during the next 5 days along with 05 and 06 There will be isolated thunder/lightning in this area on the date of May.”

Apart from this, he said, “Scattered light/moderate rainfall is very likely over Bihar, Jharkhand, West Bengal and Sikkim and Odisha during next 5 days, with isolated thunderstorm/lightning/strong winds (40-50 kmph) over the region. per hour). 05 and 06 May.”

Also, IMD said that a Cyclonic Circulation is persisting over South Andaman Sea and adjoining areas. Under its influence, a Low Pressure Area is likely to form over the same area on May 06. It is very likely to move northwestwards and gradually turn into a depression during subsequent 48 hours.

Under cyclonic influence, IMD is likely to expect heavy to very heavy rainfall at isolated places over Nicobar Islands today and very heavy to very heavy falls at isolated places over Andaman & Nicobar Islands during 06-08 May.
