From Amitabh Bachchan to Anil Kapoor, celebs congratulate Indian badminton team after Thomas Cup win

As Indian men’s team creates history by winning Thomas Cup title for the first time, film personalities Amitabh BachchanR Madhavan, Anil Kapoor And SS Rajamouli among others congratulated the champion team for making the country proud. India registered a 3-0 win over 14-time champions Indonesia in the final in Bangkok on Sunday with an exceptional performance from world championship medalists Lakshya Sen, Kidambi Srikanth and world number eight doubles pair of Chirag Shetty and Satwiksairaj Rankireddy.

Soon after the win, Bachchan took to social media to praise the team. “India! India!! India!! #ThomasCup #TeamIndia #Proud,” he posted on Twitter.

Sharing a picture of the Indian team, Riteish Deshmukh wrote, “#ThomasCup2022 What an extraordinary achievement for Team India. Beating 14-time champions Indonesia 3-0 in the final. Congratulations to the entire team – Prayers, Coaches, Support Staff And the whole team. Anil Kapoor tweeted, “This is unbelievable!! Congratulations to #TeamIndia!! Historic moment!!”

Actor Javed Jaffrey said he expects the first Thomas Cup win for badminton, which was the 1983 World Cup victory for cricket in India. “Indian badminton has made history today. The first Thomas Cup win should do what the 1983 World Cup victory did for Indian cricket. Let’s cheer these players who shy away from praise and big fans. Congratulations. Team India!” He tweeted.
