As the Aam Aadmi Party appeared ready for a clean sweep in Punjab, the party’s state in-charge Raghav Chadha said that the state should no longer be called ‘Udta Punjab (a reference to drug menace)’ but ‘Uthta Punjab’ (Awakening of Punjab). ) will be called. the profit).

Chadha further said, “Punjab has proved that it likes the Arvind Kejriwal-Bhagwant Mann pairing and not any party pair.”

AAP’s Punjab in-charge credited the party workers for the phenomenal performance. “All credit goes to AAP workers, they did not see day or night, summer or winter and continued to work for the party. Will progressively work for all of you,” she said.

According to the Election Commission, at 12:15 pm, AAP is leading in 90 seats in the 117-seat assembly of Punjab. It was followed by Congress (18) and Shiromani Akali Dal (6).

The Shiromani Akali Dal, which eventually broke its alliance with the BJP over the three agricultural laws that were repealed, forged an alliance with the Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP) for the assembly elections.

This is the first time the BJP has contested more than 65 seats in Punjab. It forged an alliance with former Chief Minister Captain Amarinder Singh’s Punjab Lok Congress and SS Dhindsa-led SAD (United). BJP leaders have spoken of a strong performance in the elections.

Punjab recorded an average voter turnout of 65.50% on February 20, as against 77% in 2017.
