Fuel prices remain high in Delhi, Mumbai; Check Latest Petrol, Diesel Rates in your City

Petrol and diesel prices refused to fall for the 20th day in a row. Fuel prices have remained stable since April 6 after oil marketing companies hiked them by Rs 10 per liter after a hike of 14 paise in major cities. After the latest hike of 80 paise, petrol is being sold in Delhi at Rs 105.41 per liter on Tuesday. Diesel price in the national capital is Rs 96.67. In Mumbai, a liter of petrol costs Rs 120.51 and a liter of diesel costs Rs 104.77. In Kolkata, a liter of petrol is selling at Rs 115.12 and a liter of diesel at Rs 99.83 per liter. In the Tamil Nadu capital, petrol customers will have to pay Rs 110.85 per liter while diesel customers will have to pay Rs 100.94 per litre.

Fuel prices have increased in all the states of the country since the assembly elections in Uttar Pradesh, Punjab, Goa and Manipur that concluded in March. However, the magnitude of price revision varies from state to state. The changes in the prices of petrol and diesel as decided by the OMCs are effective from 6 am every day. Retail petrol and diesel prices vary from state to state as it depends on factors such as local taxes, VAT, freight charges, among other factors. Petrol prices have recently reached an unprecedented high, reaching Rs 122.93 a liter in Sri Ganganagar, Rajasthan.

In India, public sector OMCs include companies such as Bharat Petroleum Corporation Limited (BPCL), Indian Oil Corporation Limited (IOCL) and Hindustan Petroleum Corporation Limited (HPCL). These companies are responsible for revising fuel prices on a daily basis in line with benchmark international prices and foreign exchange rates. International crude oil prices are also changing due to the ongoing war between Ukraine and Russia.

Brent futures fell $4.33, or 4.1%, to $102.32 a barrel on Monday, while US West Texas Intermediate (WTI) crude fell $3.53, or 3.5%, to $98.54, according to Reuters.
