Full class on Saturday to compensate for the rainy holidays. Mangaluru News – Times of India

MANGALURU: Schools and Colleges Dakshina Kannada Will conduct full-day classes on Saturday for six weeks as the district administration has declared holidays for more than seven days due to heavy rains. Schools have already been given verbal instructions to make up for the lost class hours on Saturdays. The same rule will also apply to those colleges which will switch to online classes when more holidays are declared.
An official of the Public Instruction Department said that although the school had ended a week ago, it would not have much impact on the mandatory working days. “The reason for this is that this academic year has started 15 days earlier than other academic years. Usually the schools start from 1st June, but it started in the second week of May this year. So a week’s class loss won’t make much difference. However, there is a verbal instruction from dpi To make arrangements for schools to compensate for the lost hours of studies during weekends,” the official said.
Another official said the teachers were happy to work in government, aided and unaided schools on Saturday. “The only arrangement schools have to make is mid-day meal when classes are held on Saturday afternoon. There may be special classes for SSLC students on Sunday as well,” said the official.
Deputy Commissioner KV Rajendra indicated that no more holidays would be declared across the district. The rainy days holidays will be region-specific. “As of now, the district administration is prepared to deal with the monsoon. The decision to declare a holiday for the school/college will be left to the local authorities. In the meantime, parents and schools can decide whether to send their children to school, depending on the situation. To compensate for the missed hours, schools will conduct full day classes on Saturdays for six weeks,” Rajendra said.
Mangalore University Vice Chancellor ps yadpadithaya He said colleges have been asked to shift to online classes if the rain holidays are extended. They can conduct full day classes even on weekends.
