‘Gahreiyaan’ trailer: Deepika Padukone, Siddhant Chaturvedi star in intricate drama on modern relationships

‘Kapoor & Sons’ director Shakun Batra’s film also stars Naseeruddin Shah, Ananya Panday and Dhairya Karva.

Filmmaker Shakun Batra’s upcoming film starring Deepika Padukone, Siddhant Chaturvedi, Ananya Panday and Dhairya Karva is set to have its world premiere on Amazon Prime Video on January 25, 2022.

The film, titled “The Depths”, is presented as a drama about “complicated modern relationships”. It also stars Naseeruddin Shah and Rajat Kapoor in lead roles. The film is jointly produced by Karan Johar’s Dharma Productions and Viacom18 Studios in association with Batra’s Jawska Films.

According to the makers, the Amazon Original is a relationship drama that dives into “the depths of complex modern relationships, adulthood, letting go, and taking control of people’s life paths”.

Johar described “The Depths” as a deep, genuine and honest overview of modern relations.

The filmmaker said that Batra, known for films such as “Ek Main Aur Ekk Tu” and the acclaimed 2016 drama “Kapoor and Sons”, “has done a phenomenal job of portraying the complexities of human emotions”.

“That, along with the earnest and powerful performances from the cast, makes the film a truly compelling story. We are thrilled to premiere ‘Ghehriyaan’ on Amazon Prime Video. This is our second collaboration after ‘Shershaah’ and we look forward The film, with its universally engaging theme of love and friendship versus one’s ambitions, goals and struggles, will resonate with audiences in India and across the world,” said Johar in a statement.

Batra said he sees the “depths” as a journey through the “intricacies of relationships”, a mirror in modern adult relationships.
