Ganesh Chaturthi: Photographer Bharat Prajapat on working with Pune’s Kalawant Dhol Tasha Pathak

The festival of Ganesh Chaturthi was celebrated with pomp and gaiety across India this year. With the coronavirus pandemic no longer casting its black shadow on the festivities, pandals are thronging in every nook and corner of the country. We are all aware of how the pandemic hampered the celebrations in the last two years. Welcoming the idols of Lord Ganesha was a true celebration for all, especially the people of Maharashtra.

With dhol-tasha across the state, this year saw several events in every part of the country. Pune, being one of the places celebrated for the festival, witnessed elaborate celebrations, immersion and processions. Making Ganeshotsav a memorable experience for all, renowned photographer Bharat Prajapat captured and documented the memories of devotees in Pune. Prajapat’s company ‘Clikography’ joined hands with renowned Kalawant dhol Tasha Pathak to shoot a unique film of the festival in Pune.

Bharat was always in mind to collaborate with Kalawant Dhol Tasha Pathak. And this year he got to work on one of his dream projects. Kalawant Dhol Tasha Pathak is a community formed by creative professionals of Marathi film industry. Celebrities like Shruti Marathe, Astad Kale, Saurabh Gokhale, Siddharth Jadhav, Aarti Pathak and Tejaswini Pandit made Ganesh Chaturthi a memorable festival this year.

“It was an emotional moment to see people gather and celebrate the festival this year. Devotees not only prayed to Bappa but also danced after a gap of two years and enjoyed every festival. I am overwhelmed and blessed to have the opportunity to shoot a film filled with various emotions of joy beyond words”, said Bharat. He further said that the Ganeshotsav program proved to be a huge success as people from different parts of the country come to Pune to witness the festival.

Describing the Ganeshotsav event as sheer magic, Bharat Prajapat is looking forward to capturing and documenting many other events during other Indian festivals. Long before ‘Clikography’ was born, Bharat worked as a freelance photographer, documenting travel stories and vlogs.
