GATE 2022: Giving two papers? Know the conjunctions, how to set priority subject

NS Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering (GATE) 2022 Registration will end on October 1. This year, the exam will be conducted for 29 papers. A candidate can choose to appear in one or two papers of GATE 2022 exam. However, a candidate is allowed to mark his/her first paper preference only, while the second paper can be selected from a pre-determined two-paper combination list.

Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Kharagpur, which will conduct the exam, has already uploaded the list of papers and subjects that are allowed to be linked with the first paper on its official website at gate.iitkgp.ac.in.

Candidates opting for Aerospace Engineering as the first paper may be allowed to opt for Naval Architecture and Marine Engineering (New Paper) and Engineering Sciences as the second paper. However, those wishing to appear for Computer Science and Information Technology must choose EC, GE, MA, PH, or ST.

GATE 2022 Combination of Papers: How to Set Priority

Candidates opting to appear in two subject papers should choose their primary choice of paper as their default choice wisely as per their area of ​​interest. The second choice of paper has to be chosen from the allowed combinations as subjects other than those listed are not allowed. Candidates should also note that the exam venue for Paper II may be different while the city will remain the same for Paper 1.

Furthermore, the website has noted that the candidates appearing in one or two papers will have to fill only one application form. “In case of multiple applications, only one will be accepted and the remaining applications will be rejected without refund of the fee paid,” the notice said.

GATE is a three-hour exam consisting of Multiple Choice Questions (MCQs), Multiple Choice Questions (MSQs), and Numerical Answer Type (NAT) questions.
