GATE 2023 begins today, check exam day guidelines, things to carry, banned items

GATE 2023: Students are advised to reach the exam venue/centre at least 30 minutes in advance to avoid last minute rush. All the candidates must strictly follow the COVID-19 guidelines inside the examination hall

Indian Institute technology (IIT), Kanpur is all set to start Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering (GATE) 2023 Today, February 4th. As per the schedule, the exam will be conducted in two slots on February 4, 5, 11 and 12. The first slot will run from 9:30 AM to 12:30 PM and the second slot will run from 2:30 PM to 5:30 PM. The admit card for GATE 2023 is available on the official site at gate.iitk.ac.in.

Those who have not yet downloaded the GATE 2023 hall ticket can access it by entering their enrollment ID or email address and password on the portal. Candidates are advised to bring the printout of admit card along with one original or valid photo ID proof (Passport, PAN Card, Voter ID, Aadhaar Card, Driving License) on the day of examination. Candidates are requested to follow some exam guidelines.

GATE 2023: Exam Dress Code

Candidates should wear light and comfortable clothes on the day of examination. Avoid wearing any type of metal object, any cloth, or metal containing items. Students will not be allowed to wear muffler/cap or any kind of cloth to cover the head. They should also avoid wearing clothes with too many pockets. Female candidates should avoid wearing any kind of Shrug, Stole, Dupatta or Dupatta in the examination hall.

Applicants must not wear any type of jewellery, accessories or ornaments including rings, bracelets, watches, sunglasses and belts. These items are strictly prohibited in the examination center. Candidates can wear simple flip-flops or sandals and refrain from wearing shoes.

GATE 2023: List of banned items

Electronic devices such as calculators, mobile phones, log tables, pagers, tablets, laptops, pens or pencils, pencil boxes, geometry sets, bags or backpacks, food items or water, earphones, microphones, cameras, recorders, or any loose paper OR Documents other than GATE Admit Card, ID Proof and Photo. Any candidate found with any of these items will be disqualified.

Students are advised to follow the code of conduct during the examination and not indulge in any malpractice. No candidate will be allowed to leave the examination hall before the GATE 2023 exam is over. Students having any disability must carry their valid certificate or proof to the exam center.
