Gautam Budh Nagar becomes second district of UP to complete 100% vaccination

Uttar Pradesh’s Gautam Budh Nagar which includes Noida and Greater Noida became the second district in the state to achieve 100% COVID-19 vaccination on Thursday.

The milestone was achieved after completing the administration of over 1,595,000 second doses of the Covid-19 vaccine, over 1,592,647 beneficiaries identified for vaccination in the district.

However, Gautam Budh Nagar still lags behind in vaccinating senior citizens. A total of over 3.8 million doses have been administered in Gautam Budh Nagar till Thursday evening, including 2.17 million first doses, 1.59 million second doses and about 42,000 precautionary doses.

Chief Medical Officer (CMO) Dr Sunil Sharma said, “This is a milestone for us, which has been made possible only by the consistent efforts of all our staff. It has been many days when we have done more than 100 vaccination sessions in a day. Private centers also played their part in increasing immunization coverage. We conducted regular visits to several groups like women, parents, physically challenged, transgender, homeless, migrant workers, industrial workers, corporate employees and senior citizens Special vaccination camps have also been organized. The CMO, however, said that there is a gap of 6 lakh between the coverage of the first dose and the second dose as the due date for 2.5 lakh people is yet to come, but the bigger challenge lies in the location of another 3 lakh people, which cannot be traced. Earlier, with less than 1,000 active COVID-19 cases in Gautam Buddh Nagar, the district administration announced relaxation of certain restrictions like easing of night curfew hours and reopening of gyms and swimming pools .

According to officials, the night curfew will now begin at 11 pm and continue till 5 am instead of the 10 am to 6 pm period that was imposed last month when the number of active cases crossed the 1,000-mark Was.
