Vadodara/Anand: Gujarat Biotechnology Research Center (GBRC) has signed MoU with Canada based scripts Inc., a firm engaged in data analytics and software development using Artificial Intelligence (AI) to combat Antimicrobial Resistance (AMR). GBRC Generating data in animal health, agriculture and marine sectors that require analysis and interpretation to provide related solutions amr and other problems in these areas. With its expertise in data analysis and interpretation, Scriptix will develop software products using AI, Machine Learning, Computer Vision and Big Data.
“The World Health Organization (WHO) has declared AMR a threat to global health and development and declared it one of the top 10 global public health threats. The misuse and overuse of antimicrobial drugs are the main drivers in the development of drug-resistant pathogens,” said Harsh McEwanPresident and CEO of Scriptix, Canada,
AMR occurs when bacteria, viruses, fungi, and parasites change over time and no longer respond to medications, making the infection difficult to treat and increasing the risk of disease spread, serious illness, and death. “As a result of drug resistance, antibiotics and other antimicrobial drugs become ineffective and the infection becomes difficult or impossible to treat,” said McEwan, a native of Anand.
