India’s Gross Domestic Product (GDP) grew by 8.7% in 2021-22, lower than the 8.9% officially estimated earlier, down from 4.1% in the previous quarter to 5.4% in the third quarter, Which is according to the provisional national income estimates. Released on May 31, 2022.

Production from India’s eight core sectors grew at 8.4% in April 2022, the fastest pace in six months, with crude oil and steel being the only sectors to register a slight decline in output compared to April 2021.

The Gross Value Added (GVA) to the economy is projected to grow at 8.1% in 2021-22, slightly lower than the 8.3% previously estimated by the National Statistical Office (NSO). India’s GDP shrank 6.6% in 2020-21, while GVA fell by 4.8% that year amid the COVID-19 pandemic lockdown.
