Vadodara: Panchmahal sessions court sentenced two youths to 20 years imprisonment Godhra Which convicted him for raping a minor girl in 2018. The court also ordered compensation of Rs 6 lakh to the rape victim.
The 14-year-old victim had gone to a relative’s place in Kharod village for a wedding at that time. When she went out to free herself, she was caught and dragged by the accused Harish Baria And Pankaj Bariawho took her to a primary school in the village and raped her in the early hours of May 11, 2018.
The girl’s mother had registered an offense in connection with the incident on May 12, 2018. The accused pair were later arrested and after investigation remanded to judicial custody.
Additional Sessions Judge HP Mehta On Tuesday, the accused were convicted and sentenced to 20 years rigorous imprisonment in the rape case.
The accused are lodged in jail as undertrials since the incident.
The District Legal Services Authority has been ordered to pay a compensation of Rs.6 lakh to the rape victim. Half of this money has to be deposited as a fixed deposit and the balance has to be paid directly into the victim’s account.
