‘Give me CBI, will arrest…’: Sanjay Singh on Aam Aadmi Party protests in Delhi

AAP MLA Sanjay Singh, who was released from house arrest along with fellow leaders on Monday, said the BJP was trying to malign Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal, claiming that he was accompanied by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Union Home Minister will be Amit Shah. And Billionaire industrialist Gautam Adani “arrested within two hours” if ED and CBI were with him.

Singh and other AAP leaders were detained after hours of questioning for protesting outside the CBI office on Sunday in support of Sisodia, arrested by the CBI in connection with the Delhi liquor policy case.

Speaking to ANI after his release, Singh alleged that the BJP was attempting to “defame” the Delhi CM, claiming that all attempts to malign Kejriwal and his party would fail.

He said, “Soon the dictatorship of PM Modi will end. He arrested the country’s most popular education minister (Manish Sisodia). He is trying to defame Arvind Kejriwal, but his image is being tarnished by such antics.” There will be no effect. It was a cowardly act. Center to arrest Sisodia by the agencies,” the AAP MP said.

Singh said, “Give me the ED and the CBI, I will arrest Modi, Amit Shah and Adani within two hours. When you have the power to misuse investigative agencies, you can do anything.”

Delhi minister Gopal Rai said the government would remain unaffected and carry out its work even if the BJP arrested all its ministers.

“The arrest of Manish Sisodia and the BJP’s friendship with Adani are issues that cannot be tolerated. Even if they (BJP) arrest all our ministers, our government will do its job,” he said.

Meanwhile, the AAP said it would organize protests across the country, including in the national capital, outside the BJP headquarters against Sisodia’s arrest.

Delhi’s Special CP (L&O) Dipendra Pathak said adequate arrangements have been made to maintain law and order.

There is an effective and strong police system at the ground level to maintain law and order, he said.

Earlier on Monday, AAP leader Saurabh Bhardwaj had claimed that the party leaders who were detained on Sunday have been arrested and will be produced before the court.

“The Center has crossed all limits of democracy. It arrested Manish Sisodia without any evidence for political reasons. You have arrested the entire leadership of our party except Arvind Kejriwal and a few others. Many leaders were arrested yesterday. Have been detained since afternoon.” Bhardwaj told ANI, under which section he is being kept in custody for so long? The police will produce them in the court as they have shown to the detained people.

He further claimed that the government has arrested the entire leadership of AAP.

Bhardwaj said, “This is not detention, but arrest on the orders of the Centre. The police have arrested our entire leadership. We will protest outside the BJP office today as all instructions are being given from there.”

The CBI on Sunday issued a statement on Sisodia’s arrest, saying he was giving evasive answers and was not cooperating with the investigation. The probe agency also said that Sisodia was earlier called for the probe on February 19, but he sought a week’s time citing busy schedule.

In its statement, the CBI said, “The Deputy Chief Minister was issued a notice under Section 41A of CrPC to participate in the investigation on February 19, 2023. However, he sought a week’s time citing his busy schedule.”

Shortly before reaching the CBI office for questioning, Sisodia said false cases were being filed against party leaders as Prime Minister Narendra Modi was “scared” of Kejriwal.
