Gmail Integrated View: Google to bring new unified view to Gmail for web – Times of India

Google Introducing a new, unified view for Gmail on the Web. Announcing the change via a blog post, the company said that the new view will make it easier to move between important applications like Gmail, Chat and Meet in one unified place.
When enabled, the new navigation menu will allow users to easily switch between inboxes, important conversations, and join meetings without having to switch between tabs or open a new window. It adds a new left sidebar with pill-shaped icons for Mail, Chat, Space, and Meet. When working in Chats and Spaces, users will be able to see a full list of conversations and Spaces in a single screen, making it easier to navigate and engage. When in Inbox, users will be able to see the full range of mail and label options that are currently available in Gmail.
The new design also brings notification bubbles that make it easier to stay on top of what’s urgently needed for your attention.

Google has also shared the timeline for the rollout of the new Unified View. It added that from February 8, 2022, users will get an opt-in to test out the new experience, allowing them to try it out and get more addicted to it. By April 2022, users who haven’t opted-in will see the new experience by default. If they want to go back to classic Gmail, they can do so through Settings.
By the end of the second quarter of 2022, the new Gmail view will become the standard experience and users will have no option to return. Additionally, users will also start seeing a new streamlined navigation experience on the chat web.
