Goa bans sale of liquor from licensed premises on the day of assembly election results

In light of the counting of votes Goa assembly electionsThe District Magistrate issues an order to close all licensed premises for the sale of liquor on March 10.

In Goa, premises licensed for the sale of liquor will remain closed till the end of the counting of general assembly elections 2022, starting from the midnight of March 10. However, restaurants and bars will remain operational but will be allowed to sell only food and non-alcoholic drinks.

The DM’s notification said, “Premises having license for bars and restaurants are permitted to keep the restaurant open only for serving food and the bar counter shall be closed and no liquor of any kind on the above days and times.” Serving will not be allowed,” ANI reports.

The DM directed bars and restaurants to display a board in the premises informing the public that ‘liquor will not be served’ on the stipulated date and time.

The 40-member Goa Assembly elections were held on February 14 and the counting of votes will take place on March 10.
