Goa Dudhsagar Falls: Over 40 tourists rescued after cable bridge collapses

On October 14, the news agency had rescued over 40 tourists from Goa’s famous Dudhsagar Falls after a cable bridge collapsed due to heavy rains. PTI It is reported citing an official statement.

The incident took place on Friday evening following heavy rains along the Goa-Karnataka border, resulting in a rise in the water level in the waterfall.

Heavy to moderate rain occurred in many parts of the state throughout the day.

After the incident, 40 visitors were stranded and were assisted by ‘Drishti Lifesavers’, who shifted them to safer places.

“Due to heavy rains on Goa-Karnataka border this evening, the water level at Dudhsagar Falls rose significantly. Due to this rise in water level the bridge used for the crossing collapsed and more than 40 visitors were stranded. Drishti Lifeguard were stationed here. Waterfalls were quick to assist the caught persons in the ordeal and provide them assistance on safe grounds,” said an official statement by PRO Drishti Lifesavers.

Drishti Marine cautioned people not to venture into Dudhsagar Falls for the next few days due to heavy rains and rising water level.

Meanwhile, the IMD has predicted isolated heavy rains over north and south of Karnataka from October 14-17. According to the Karnataka CM, there have been 13 deaths and massive damage to livestock and properties in different parts of Karnataka affected by the rains since the beginning of October.
